Luigi Galvani (1737-1798)

Galvani was an Italian scientist. He is known for his experiments showing the effects of electricity on living tissue, particularly on muscles.
He discovered that touching the nerves in a dead frog's leg with a pair of scissors during a thunder storm caused the muscles to twitch.
Galvani believed that he had discovered a new type of electricity, animal electricity, but Alessandro Volta showed that this was not the case.
Galvani's name lives on in word 'gavanized' which means stimulated as if by electricity.
