George Cayley (1773-1857)
George Cayley
A British engineer, Caley is known for the many ideas he contributed to the early history of aviation,
and is often called the father of modern aeronautics.
He invented the biplane and built a glider that travelled 270m.
He wrote about helicopters, parachutes and streamlining the design of aircraft.
