Deformed Crust

When the rocks of the crust are subjected to the stresses of Earth movements, they deform. This Deformation ca be in the form of cracks, called faults - compressional, giving lateral faults.
Folds may have been formed by quite gentle movements, in which case each fold will be several kilometres in extent, or by very intense pressure giving a highly deformed terrain
