Plate tectonics

Plate tectonics in geology a theory that the Earth's crust is made up of a number of thin segments or plates which are moving relative to one another. Movement of the plates gives rise to the observed phenomenon of continental drift. Where the plates meet Earthquakes and volcanoes may occur.
